Playing Tempo in legacy has many advantages. You’re a proactive deck so you will usually have a clear game plan. If you’re opting for a blue tempo deck, you will have a chance against every deck in the format. There are no 90/10 matchups in your disadvantage for Delver, for example. There are quite some aggro and tempo decks in legacy, with Delver being absolute top dog:
- UR Delver
- White Initiative
- Red Stompy
- Black Stompy/Aggro
- Ninjas
- RUG/Temur Delver (Canadian Threshold)
- Burn
- Merfolk
- Grixis Delver
- Jeskai Delver (Patriot)
- Hollowvine/Madness
- Zoo
- Slivers
Tempo/Aggro on a budget in legacy
Building a tempo or aggro deck on a budget is very much possible in legacy. I have a few decks in mind I’m creating pages for so you have a source of inspiration to build your next deck. Here are the decks I currently posted or that are in development:
- Death’s Shadow
- Mono Blue Delver
- Burn
- Mono Black helm
- Merfolk
- Hogaak
- Eldrazi Stompy
- Ninja
Many of these decks are monocolored, which makes them accessible since the land base is usually the most expensive part of a legacy deck. In other decks, we try to make them work with either basics or other ways of creating mana in the required colors. Go check them out!
